There's never been a better time to improve your home.

A few years earlier, they had added onto the back of the house and chose Pella Reserve aluminum-clad wood windows with Hidden Roll Screens®. They loved the quality and how they looked, so when it came time to replace the rest of the windows, they didn't have to think twice about what they wanted.

The new windows are single hung, so only the bottom sash opens. One of our favorite features is the Hidden Roll Screen. Instead of a traditional screen that's always visible, it rolls up into the frame when the window is closed and comes up only when you open it. It keeps the view clean while still giving you fresh air whenever you want it.

We spent some time looking at different colors, grid patterns, and design options before settling on the final look. Black exterior frames brought out the brick beautifully, while black interiors added a modern feel inside the home. We also decided to skip the grids altogether. The existing windows had a busy grid pattern, and every replacement option we looked at with grids felt the same. Once we saw the windows without them, the choice was easy. The larger panes of glass made the rooms feel brighter, the views more open, and the house instantly looked cleaner.

The installation was completed in a single day. Pella Reserve windows are solid wood and incredibly heavy, so protecting the home was just as important as installing the windows themselves. Before any work began, our crew covered the interior and exterior work areas with tarps. After removing the old windows, we insulated the space between the exterior brick and interior drywall with OSI Quad Foam, sealed each opening with flashing tape, and finished everything with OSI Quad Max sealant. We use OSI products because they've proven to hold up in the Texas climate and provide a durable, long-lasting weather seal.

Projects like this show how much of a difference new windows can make. The home kept its original character, but the updated design, improved efficiency, and clean sightlines gave it a completely refreshed look.
